ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis, Crown Point Section VII Class D boys’ quarterfinal soccer game held Thursday was decided in overtime.
Austin Morris scored at 7:59 of overtime to claim the 2-1 victory for the Lions. Morris had scored early in the second half to give Elizabethtown-Lewis the lead, before Chance Potter tied the game for the Panthers to send it into overtime.
The game was incorrect in Friday’s edition of the Press-Republican.
Elizabethtown-Lewis to hold players, parents meeting
ELIZABETHTOWN — A mandatory meeting for all Elizabethtown-Lewis basketball players and their parents will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in the auditorium. Athletes and their parents are asked to attend this informational meeting and fill out the needed paperwork prior to the start of practice on Nov. 4.
Bowman takes first place in bowling tournament
SCHENECTADY — Peru Central School junior Jonathan Bowman led wire-to-wire and defeated Nassau’s Zachary Doty, 257-252, in the finals to win the Capital District Youth Scholarship Bowling Tournament held at Towne Bowling Academy on October 19.
The title match was close throughout. Both bowlers rolled strikes in the second through fifth frames. Bowman held a four-pin lead through six. Both bowlers then responded with strikes in the seventh through ninth frames. Doty rolled two strikes in the 10th frame to force Bowman to fill 26 pins. Bowman rolled strikes on all three shots to earn his second CDYST title and a $300 scholarship.
Bowman began the qualifying with a 299 game and would continue to lead the qualifying before finishing with a 947 total. He then won all three of his semifinal matches in the stepladder finals as he compiled the second-highest seven-game series in CDYST history with a 1,635 (1,725 with bonus).
There were 43 competitors in all. Mooers’ Christopher Kokes placed 32nd in qualifying with a 692 total.
Pelkey tosses 32nd-career 300 game
MALONE — Dave Pelkey rolled the 32nd 300 game of his bowling career recently in the North Country Travel League at Lucky Strike Lanes. He finished the three-game set with an 803 series.
Youth Ski/Snowboard Club to be offered
PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department will be offering a Ski/Snowboard Club to all Town of Plattsburgh youth ages 8 to 18 at Whiteface Mountain. The cost for each youth participant is $129 which will include six pre-selected sessions (Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, Feb. 9, March 2, and March 9). Each participant may also purchase a rental package for $94 for the six sessions.
Lessons will be offered each Sunday from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. Adult Chaperone packages can also be purchased for $235 for the six sessions. No lessons will be offered for adults. Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to and from Whiteface Mountain. Registration forms can be found at townofplattsburghrecreation.com or at the Recreation Department office at 151 Banker Road. Free open skate at Scotts’ Rink
CHAZY — The Scotts’ Rink will have free open skate each Sunday in November starting on the third from 4:30-6 p.m.
It is sponsored by the Town of Chazy and helmets are strongly suggested. Skates can be borrowed.

SLYBA begins next month
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Youth Basketball Association is designed to provide boys’ and girls’ grades K-6 an opportunity to learn the game of basketball and most importantly have fun while doing so.
Grades three through six will be competing in games against other teams and schools. The schedule is yet to be announced, but the season will run November through February with practices on Wednesdays and games on Saturday starting in January.
Signups for the SLYBA will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday November 2nd from 1-2 PM and Wednesday November 6th from 5-6 PM. Grades K-2 the cost will be $30 and grades 3-6 will be $50. Both sessions will be held in the Petrova Elementary cafeteria gym.
