ROUSES POINT — The North Country Youth Hockey Association announced a donation of five brand new sets of hockey equipment, courtesy of the NHLPAs Goals and Dreams fund Tuesday.
This donation will gear toward new Learn-to-Skate players who are just signing up to play with its organization.
Jimmy Howard, Detroit Red Wings goaltender who grew up in nearby Ogdensburg, is a member of the NHLPA who awarded this grant and is about this opportunity to give back to the game he loved.
“We are really excited to be awarded this grant,” North Country Youth Hockey Association coach Matt Fredette said. “It will give us a great opportunity to help get more young people into hockey. These brand new sets of equipment will be used by new players signing up for our free Learn-to-Skate program we just starting offering this year.”
