PSU lacrosse team to hold “Cardinals Clip Cancer”

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State lacrosse team wraps up its non-traditional season on Saturday will a full slate of events, highlighted by the annual “Cardinals Clip Cancer” event. The event will take place at Olive Ridley’s on Saturday at noon, and all proceeds will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for childhood cancer research.

This year marks Plattsburgh State’s fifth year supporting the program, which the Cardinals have donated more than $30,000 to from numerous fundraising events.

Team members and members of the coaching staff will be shaving their heads to illustrate solidarity for children who lose their hair while undergoing cancer treatments. To sponsor a shavee, donate to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation or sign up to participate in the event, visit All are welcome at Olive Ridley’s, which is located at 37 Court Street in Plattsburgh.

Following the fundraiser, the Cardinals will take the field in special “St. Baldrick’s” jerseys for a scrimmage against McGill University at 4 p.m. at the Field House Turf Complex. The day closes out with the men’s lacrosse alumni game at 6 p.m. followed by a Plattsburgh Youth Lacrosse Club game.

PSU men’s basketball alumni game Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team will hold its annual alumni game on Saturday in Memorial Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for noon. Any former Plattsburgh State player interested in participating should contact Cardinals’ head coach Tom Curle at or 564-4143 for more information.

Chazy Athletic Association sponsoring fun run

CHAZY — The Chazy Athletic Association is sponsoring a 5k fun run/walk on Oct. 27 at noon at the Chazy Orchards. Come run through the orchard in a fun event for all ages.

Registration forms can be picked up at Chazy Central Rural School or Chazy Orchards Farm Market. Pre-register by Oct. 20: $10 per person or $20 per family. Registration fee the day of the race is $15 per person or $25 per family. Any questions, call Barb Giroux at 846-7300.
