Blue Bombers grab second straight volleyball win

LAKE PLACID — Heading into this week, the Lake Placid volleyball team had won just one set. But the Blue Bombers have now won six straight, grabbing their second match victory Thursday.

Lake Placid needed just three games to defeat Peru (25-23, 25-13, 29-27) in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.

Ally Wallace served 13 points and four aces for the Blue Bombers (2-9), and she added five kills. Brenna Garrett had seven points, four kills and six assists, while Georgia O’Leary and Kiana Fell each contributed six points.

Louie Dayton and Karlee Stephney each served eight points for the Indians (2-8), while Lea Perry had four points, three aces and seven assists.

PLATTSBURGH — Noelle Miller, Miranda Sheffer and Mirissa O’Neill led the way for the Patriots.

Miller finished with five points and 10 kills, while Sheffer added 10 points, five kills, six digs and eight assists. O’Neill contributed 11 points, five kills and 14 assists as the Patriots won by game scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-16.

Jocelyn Racette chipped in with seven points and Lindsay Brown, six, for the Patriots.

Leading the way for the Hornets were Sam Martin with eight kills and seven digs, Kianna Dragoon with 18 assists and Lida Javitski with five kills and 12 points.

CHAMPLAIN — Gabrielle Vasquez accounted for 22 points and 11 digs as the Cougars outlasted the Chiefs.

Northeastern Clinton prevailed by game scores of 28-26, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19.

Amanda Tallon added seven points and 25 assists for the Cougars, while Oriana LaFlesh finished with 11 kills and 14 digs and Dakota Morrison had 12 points. Ashley McCoy chipped in seven kills, Nicole Khater had 18 digs and Ellen Reid contributed nine kills and 20 digs.

SARANAC LAKE — Zoey Varin put down 10 kills to help power the Bobcats past the Red Storm.

MacKenzie Fountain served 19 points and handed out nine assists for Northern Adirondack, while Aubrey Kerr had seven kills and Taylor Pitts and Katelyn Snide both had six. Olivia Barnaby chipped in 15 assists.

Ellen Miner led Saranac Lake with 10 points and three kills, and Samantha Martin had 16 digs and eight points. Brittany Woodruff contributed 12 digs.
