Boys & Girls Club stays unbeaten in CYO basketball

MALONE — The Ogdensburg Boys & Girls Club remained unbeaten in Franklin CYO Basketball League play last Saturday, while North Star, Bangor and Maranatha picked up victories as well.

Ogdensburg 58, Bangor 51

Ogdensburg found itself in unfamiliar territory, trailing by eight points in the third quarter. But the league leaders responded with a 16-2 run to pull out the victory and stay unbeaten.

David Tomford led Ogdensburg with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Daniel Moulton added 15 points, while Konnor Murdock finished with 12 and Ryan Petell, nine.

Devan Monette recorded a double-double for Bangor with 13 points and 13 rebounds, as did Cole LaFlesh with 10 points and 14 boards. Danny Sanchez also hit in double figures with 12 points.

North Star 68,

PAPAS Dairy 57

Alex Shackett, Mike Lavoie and Jared Webb had big games for North Stars. Shackett finished with 27 points and 16 rebounds, while LaVoie added 17 points and Webb 10 points and 25 boards.

Leading the way for PAPAS Dairy were Wally Poupore with 15 points, Tyrek Sneed 11 points and 16 rebounds, and Justin Preve, 10 points.

Maranatha 67,

St. John Bosco 57

Ben Haug turned in a huge double-double of 22 points and 23 rebounds to help give Maranatha its second win in a row. Matt Fish added 21 points and Tony DeStefano was next with 14.

Corey LaMere powered St. John Bosco with a personal best and league season-high 42 points. Austin Gonia chipped in with nine points.

Bangor 62, Chateaugay 58

Devin Monette scored 11 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter when Bangor built a 12-point lead. Ryan Jaques contributed 11 points, while Dan Sanchez and Brandon Woods each added 10.

Chateaugay battled back and got to within two points with less than a minute to play. Josh Juntunen paced Chateaugay with 21 points, including eight in the fourth quarter. Darian Velasquez followed with 16 points, Cory LaFountain 12 and Zach Cook, nine, in a losing cause.
