Watts Car Show begins Airborne's 60th season

PLATTSBURGH – More than 75 race cars, street rods, restored classics and go-karts will be on display at the Mike Watts Memorial Car Show Friday and Saturday April 19-20 at the Crete Civic Center in Plattsburgh.

Fans can get a close look at cars from each of Airborne Speedway’s five divisions, which are being prepared for the 60th season opener Saturday, May 4.

Prior Airborne Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified champions Patrick Dupree, Leon Gonyo and George Foley will be among more than a dozen DIRTcar Modified exhibitors. They will be joined by J&S Steel Sportsman Modified champion Nick Heywood of Plattsburgh, 2012 Sportsman Modified runner-up Lonnie Rivers of Cadyville and Adirondack Water Limited Late Model champion Bucko Branham of Plattsburgh.

Speedway Illustrated magazine publisher Karl Fredrickson will conduct a seminar about personal safety Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m.

North Country Classics of Plattsburgh will be represented by over 10 hot rods and restored classic cars. “We’re looking forward to it,” founder Jerry Seymour said. “Our organization has grown to more than 130 members. We’ll have a variety of cars there including a 1964 Ford Galaxy convertible that has to be seen in person to fully appreciate.”

Adult admission is $7. Admission for kids ages 6-12 is $3. Children 5-and-under admitted free.
