---- — PYH 16U team falls in USA Hockey National Championships
TROY, Mich. — The Plattsburgh Youth Hockey 16U boys’ midget team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Warwick Warriors Wednesay at the USA Hockey National Championships taking place.
After falling behind in the first period, goals by Ryan Whalen and Nate Foster tied the game at two after two periods. The third period was an up-and-down contest, but goals late in the period sealed the game for Warwick. Warwick outshot the PYH team 41-38 for the game.
The Plattsburgh team completes its round robin portion of the tournament with games today against the San Diego Jr. Gulls at 11:15 a.m., and Friday against the Toledo Cherokee at 5 p.m. The games are being web-telecasted live over the Fast Hockey network and are available for viewing at the Fountain Bros. American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh.
Women’s Basketball to Host Kid’s Night Out
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State women’s basketball team will be hosting a Kid’s Night Out event on Saturday, April 13 for children ages 5-13. This will be the third time the Lady Cards is hosting the event, which will run from 5:30-9 p.m. at Memorial Hall, on the campus of SUNY Plattsburgh.
There will be swimming, sports, games, movies, and arts and crafts. The cost is $10 per child with a special family rate of $7 for each additional child.

2013 Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival
SCHROON LAKE — The 17th Annual Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival returns to Schroon Lake, on the weekend of September 21 and 22.
The Festival kicks off Saturday, September 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Chestertown Town Hall with a 5K and 10K run/walk. Go to www.helpersfund.org or fore more details and to register online.
The following day, Sunday, September 22, will feature a half marathon, a two and a four-person marathon relay and a full marathon. Go to www.adirondackmarathon.org for further information on additional activities and to register online.
Pace Bears will lend their expertise to help marathon runners cross the finish line at their goal pace. Participants are encouraged to look for the Pace Bears at the start line and join the appropriate group.

VFW Lanes hosts Scratch Jackpot Tournament
MINEVILLE — Mineville VFW Lanes will host a Scratch Jackpot Tournament on Sunday April 7.
Entry fee is $30 per bowler and the tournament is limited to the first 30 bowlers who sign up. Everyone bowls three games, and all bowlers with 575 or higher will move on to a one game championship.
The top five scores from the championship game will be paid. First place will receive $300, second place $150, third place $100, fourth place $80, and fifth place $60. If you would like to sign up, call VFW Lanes at, 942-3344.
Vt. Shamrocks win at Championships
SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Vermont Shamrocks U16 girls’ hockey team captured a 4-1 victory over the East Coast Wizards in their first game in the USA Hockey national Championships Wednesday.
Amy LoTemplio of Morrisonville had an assist in the game, while Chazy’s Cailee LaPorte had a strong game on defense.
The Shamrocks will take on Anaheim today.
The Town of Saranac holding summer registration
SARANAC — The Town of Saranac will be holding registration for t-ball, softball, baseball, and swimming lessons at the town hall on April 15 and 17, from 6:30-8 p.m.
A youth commission meeting will be held prior to Monday’s sign-up, starting at 6 p.m. Coaches are needed for the t-ball teams, the pony boys’ and girls’ teams, and the pee-wee girls’ softball team.
