---- — Riverside Lanes tourney on Saturday

AUSABLE FORKS — Riverside Lanes will be holding its Adult/Junior Christmas Tournament on Saturday. It is a red pin tournament, meaning you get a free drink with a strike.

Also it’s a nine-pin tournament, which means a nine hit counts as a strike. There will be shifts at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $15 per couple and sign up as soon as possible.

There will be trophies to be awarded on the following Monday and Tuesday at the junior bowling program.

North Bowl Singles Shootout on Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — North Bowl Lanes will be holding a Singles Shootout on Sunday. There will be qualifying shifts at noon and 2:15 p.m. First place, based on 50 entries, will be $300. The top 15 or one in five entries will cash.

Entry fee is $35, with re-entry at $30. Handicap is 80 percent in your average and 220, with a maximum of 32 pins per game. The top 15 will quality for match play, with the high qualifier getting a first-round bye.

All bowlers must sign in 15 minutes prior to their shift or call and reserve a spot 30 minutes prior to the start of the shift. For more information, contact John Munson, Bob Munson or Bob Trombley, at 561-1690.

Senior league in need of two bowlers

PLATTSBURGH — The TGIF Senior League, will bowls at 12:30 p.m. on Fridays at North Bowl Lanes, is in need of two bowlers age 50 and over. If interested, call Morna, at 643-8283, or North Bowl Lanes, at 561-1690.

Skating club to present holiday show

PLATTSBURGH — The Skating Club of the Adirondacks will presents its Annual Holiday Spectacular Show at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the Plattsburgh State Field House.

The show will feature performances by SCA’s advanced, freestyle and basic skills skaters, as well as a performance by the Plattsburgh High School Select Vocal Ensemble and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students, with no charge for kids ages four and under. Open skating will follow the ice show, and skate rentals will be available for $2.

Plattsburgh FC Soccer holding tryouts this weekend

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh FC Soccer is holding its second tryout for the upcoming 2013 outdoor season for the U16 and U18 girls. Tryouts will be Sunday at the Crete Center. The U18 girls will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the U16 girls from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendance is strongly suggested even if you attended the first one. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to start time to fill out all needed information. The 2013 season consists of games in the Vermont Soccer League and three tournaments in and around the Albany and Vermont areas.

Climate specialist to address ADK gathering

PLATTSBURGH — Dr. Raymond Johnson, Ph.D., founder and director of the Institute of Climate Studies U.S.A., will be the featured speaker at the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club Holiday Potluck on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Conservation Building on the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

The subject of Dr. Johnson’s program will be “Climate Science/Climate Change.”

The evening begins with the potluck at 5:30 p.m. and Dr. Johnson’s talk at 7 p.m. Bring your own place setting and a dish or dessert to share. Beverages will be provided.

This event is free and open to the public.
