Moriah, Ticonderoga boys reach Alzheimer's Awareness championship game

PORT HENRY — Host Moriah and Ticonderoga picked up boys’ basketball victories Thursday night in the opening round of the Alzheimer’s Awareness Tournament.

The Vikings recorded a 52-30 win over Willsboro, while the Sentinels won a 51-40 decision from Elizabethtown-Lewis.

Tonight, Willsboro and Elizabethtown-Lewis tangle in the 5:30 p.m. consolation game and Ticonderoga opposes Moriah in the 7 p.m. championship contest.

Moriah 52, Willsboro 30

Freshman center Adam Jaquish scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Vikings.

Jessup Calkins added eight points and five assists, Derek Brassard had seven points and Tyler Pratt chipped in four assists for Moriah.

The Vikings jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the first quarter and were never threatened the rest of the way.

Nick Arnold paced the Warriors with 18 points, and Seth Swires was next with seven.

Ticonderoga 51, Elizabethtown-Lewis 40

Ty Denno scored eight of his 12 points in a 19-6 first-quarter run as the Sentinels defeated the Lions.

Anthony Dushane also hit in double figures for Ticonderoga with 11 points. The Sentinels held a 33-17 advantage at the half.

Justin LaPier and Zac Noka-Bailey tossed in 15 points apiece for Elizabethtown-Lewis.

KEENE — Taylor Geiger scored 15 points, including 13 in the second half, to lead Keene to a 43-25 victory over Willsboro in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls’ basketball.

Tucker Geiger added 11 points and Naomi Peduzzi nine for Keene, which tallied 31 of its 43 points in the second half.
