Peru’s Kesterman takes gold

LAKE PLACID — Ken Kesterman of Peru, and Steve Conklin of Saratoga Springs, took home the gold medals for the 2013 Besting Club Mates at the Adirondack Bobsled Combined Masters Championships.

The race had two categories of speed and consistency. Each team was allotted three runs, with the slowest of the three being thrown out. Kesterman posted the fastest time for the competition at 46:42, but was unable to use that run as it was his fourth of the day.

“The sled was running well on the fast ice and I felt good about my chances,” Kesterman said. “It was just one of those good days that every bobsledder looks forward to.”
