Alex Medina paced Paul Smith, which trailed 43-29 at the half, with 28 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Adam Klock contributed 17 points and 12 boards, and Patrick Wightman added nine points.

“We got off to a good start and played them even for most of the first half,” Paul Smith’s coach Joe Akey said. “But then they got hot from 3-point range in the final seven minutes of the half and pushed a close game to a 14-point lead.

“They led by as many as 19 points in the second half before we made a run and cut it to eight. But then they made a 3-point play that killed our momentum. We weren’t able to get closer than eight the rest of the way.

“Eastern Maine was much bigger and more athletic than we were, but I was proud of the way we battled, never quit and kept attacking. We needed one more guy to step up, other than Alex Medina and Adam Klock, who both played all 40 minutes.”

Paul Smith’s closes its season with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday at North Country Community College.
