Scott, Kerr lead Bobcats past Knights

ELLENBURG — Freshman reserve Aubrey Kerr hit six free throws in the fourth quarter as Northern Adirondack held off Seton Catholic 37-34 for its second win of the season.

Seton Catholic, led by the shooting of Paige Spittler, held a 20-14 lead at the half. But Northern Adirondack outscored the Knights by a combined 23-14 margin in the second half, including an 11-5 advantage in the fourth.

Jillian Scott led the Bobcats with 11 points, while Kerr finished with eight and Rachael Venne with seven. Taylor Durnin added a team-high eight rebounds.

Spittler poured in a game-high 21 points, while Kelli Ryan added nine points for the Knights.

“It was a battle from start to finish,” Northern Adirondack coach Jessica Barnhart said. “Spittler hurt us with her outside shooting, but we hung in there. We played much better in the second half.”

Westport 46, Wells 30

WESTPORT — Sophomore guard Danielle Schwoebel fired a team-high 13 points while adding eight steals and six rebounds as the Eagles held off the Indians.

Brendee Russell contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Teammate Megan Sudduth (10) also reached double-digit status.

“We made some shots and played well defensively in the third quarter,” Westport coach Hokey McKinley said. “Felicia Kurth played outstanding on the defensive side of the basketball. We were fortunate to have a balanced attack.”

Brittany Woodward (15) and Breanna Mayer (10) led the Indians in scoring.
