Weather continues to be problem for CVBL

---- — PLATTSBURGH — Today was supposed to be the final day of the Champlain Valley Baseball League regular season.

That’s not going to happen, however.

There are three doubleheaders on the schedule — the Fourth Ward A’s (5-6) versus the Fourth Ward Cardinals (6-5) at South Acres Field, Meron’s Expos (5-5) against the Peabody’s Padres (5-6) at Saranac High School, and the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx (3-8) opposing the first-place Lyon Mountain Miners (8-2) at the Big Ball Diamond.

If the weather takes a turn for the better, which is a big if, all three twinbills will be played and that will leave only a trio of make-up doubleheaders on July 7.

But if rain washes out play for the third week in a row, an extra make-up date will be needed and that will be July 14, with the playoffs scheduled to begin the following week.
