PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Little League All-Stars used aggressive base running and opportunistic hitting to defeat South Jefferson 3-2 in district play Saturday at Penfield Park.
The game featured outstanding pitching and defense by both teams.
A lead-off single by Nick LeBeau in the bottom of the fifth was key to the win as LeBeau eventually scored the winning run. Cody Peryea and Andrew Follmer scored Plattsburgh’s other runs.
Peryea, Andy LeBeau, Elliot Hurwitz, Dominick Bordeau and Isaac Garman all singled.
Winning pitcher Zach Marlow struck out seven and gave up just one hit. Andy LeBeau recorded the save.
South Jefferson’s Bobby Nappi belted a solo home run for his team’s only hit of the game. Mitch Scoville scored the visitors’ other run. Jacob Hess took the loss.
Plattsburgh faces Pulaski today at Penfield Park.
