---- — Monster Dash 5k results announced

MORRISONVILLE — Jason Amorell narrowly picked up a victory over Justin Liechty in the Monster Dash 5k on Oct. 21.

Amorell and Liechty each finished in a time of 20:13, while Jake Messner finished third in a time of 20:42.

Brianna Maginn was the first female to cross the finish in a time of 22:36, which was good for 11th overall in the race.

Lucy Brown captured first place in the Goblin Gallop kids run with a time of 6:02. Gabriel Cayea finished third in 6:03, while Bella Brown took third place in 6:19.

Town of Plattsburgh accepting youth basketball registration

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department has begun accepting registration for its winter youth basketball program. The program is open to boys and girls in grades 3 to 6 who live in Plattsburgh.

Practices begin first week of December and will meet either after school or the evenings, depending on gym availability. Games will run for eight Saturdays beginning Jan. 5. Registration forms can be downloaded from townofplattsburghrecreation.com or picked up at the Recreation Office at 151 Banker Road. Forms are due by Nov. 2 and any late submissions will be placed on a waiting list. Anyone wishing to coach or officiate games, contact Erin Pangborn at 562-6860.

 

Former NCCS soccer players in national tournament

ALBANY — The Albany College of Pharmacy’s women’s soccer team was selected to participate in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Tournament.

Three former Northeastern Clinton Central High School players, Jen Bechard, Amanda Rabideau and Taylor Kelsey, are current members on the ACPHS team.

Bechard, Rabideau and Kelsey will travel will the rest of the team to compete in the eight-team tournament in Asheville, N.C., beginning Nov. 1.

 

Two Cardinals selected to All-Conference Tennis Team

CORTLAND — Samantha Engebrecht and Jessica Paquette of the Plattsburgh State tennis team have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Association All-Conference Second Team.

The honors come to the Cardinal tennis team for the first time since 2007. Engebrecht and Paquette represented the first doubles pairing on the second team. The Cardinals finished the season with a 9-3 overall record.

 

PSU soccer teams holding Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men’s and women’s soccer teams will hold a joint-effort fundraiser for cystic fibrosis this Wednesday.

Both teams will wear cystic fibrosis awareness jerseys for the games and prior to the start, the women’s team will be selling food and drinks at the Angell College Center. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Other events throughout the evening will also take place.

After the games, there will be a Meet the Cards event where fans can sign in and receive autographs from the men’s and women’s teams. The women play Norwich at 4 p.m. while the men play St. Lawrence at 7 p.m.

 

Special Olympic area Bowling Tournament Oct.28

PLATTSBURGH — Clinton/Essex Special Olympics will be holding their annual bowling tournament at Northbowl Lanes on Sunday Oct. 28.

Opening ceremonies will start at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The community is welcome to come and cheer the athletes on.
