Roto Rooter, Rebels off to 2-0 starts

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Flag Football League opened its season last weekend with doubleheaders for each team.

The league consists of six teams and includes perennial powers Roto Rooter and two-time defending champion T. Maliniak & Sons Masonry.

During the first weekend of action, Roto Rooter recorded a 25-0 win over T. Maliniak & Sons Masonry and a 33-14 victory over Northeast Irrigation.

The North Country Rebels posted a 13-10 win over Maliniak’s and a 12-0 decision over the North Country Monsters.

In other games, Northeast Irrigation was an 18-0 winner over Damain Bettenelli Photography and the North Country Monsters a 9-8 winner over Bettenelli Photography.

Tanner Currier threw three touchdown passes — 15 yards and eight yards to Matt Golden and 41 yards to Jordan Gillespie. Pat Clancy and Arte Starke were defensive standouts.

Jordan Coolidge had a 13-yard touchdown run and Eric Rock hooked up with Andrew Price for a 29-yard touchdown strike. Larry Coolidge and Eric Lemieux led the way on defense.

MALINIAK & SONS MASONRY

Dexter Geohagen opening the scoring with a 42-yard interception return and D.J. Barber added the extra point. Harry Rascoe then hit Matt St. Clair with a 32-yard strike and Barber added the point after.

Barber opened the second half with a 31-yard field goal. Rascoe then connected with Trevor St. Clair from 48 yards out and Barber added the point after. Devin Dashnaw, John Recore, Jim Reisdorf, Mike Moran and Tom Page were standouts on the offensive line.

Bettenelli opened the scoring when Brandon St. John scored from eight yards out and tossed the two-point conversion.

Tre Bucci then found the end zone on a six-yard run for the Monsters and Jordan Knight’s 24-yard field goal was the margin of difference.
