Stick ‘n’ puck, public skating times announced

PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has announced this week’s times for stick ‘n’ puck and public skating.

Stick ‘n’ puck will take place on Friday from 5:30-7 p.m., while public skating is open Sunday from 12:30-2 p.m.

Ice available for preseason hockey

PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has early evening and evening ice slots open during the month of October for preseason hockey. To reserve a time, contact Jamie or Craig at 561-7672.

Friends of Point au Roche 5K Oct. 5

POINT AU ROCHE — The Friends of Point au Roche State Park 5K Trail Run will take place Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m.

Race registration starts at 8 a.m.

Cost of the race is $15 for those that preregister and $20 for the day of the race.

All preregistration forms must be received by Sept. 30. Shirts are available for preregistered runners, while any additional shirts will be given out the day of the race on a first-come-first-serve basis — sizes will not be guaranteed on race day.

NCYH offering learn to skate, play hockey program

CHAMPLAIN — North Country Youth Hockey (NCYH) is offering a learn to skate and play hockey program.

Children will learn the basics of skating and hockey at no cost for ice time. Ice time will be most Saturday mornings from 9-10 a.m. All practices will be held at the Rouses Point Civic Center.

Instruction will be given by certified USA Hockey coaches and will center on skill development and having fun.

Registration will be Sept. 28 at the Civic Center Park in Rouses Point during the NCYH Soccer Tournament (rain date will be Sept. 29).
