Ryan stops 26 shots in Seton Catholic's victory

ELLENBURG — Northern Adirondack fired 26 shots on the Seton Catholic nets but could only get one past Kelli Ryan as the Knights knocked off the Bobcats, 2-1, in Northern Soccer League girls’ soccer Wednesday.

Ryan made 21 saves to earn the win.

Ashley Carpenter put Seton Catholic ahead on a semi-breakaway 5:27 into the game, and Paige Spittler made it 2-0 with a high shot at 14:11 of the second half.

Juliana Gardner pulled Northern Adirondack within a goal with about 10 minutes to go.

Anna Lashway made five saves for the Bobcats.

TICONDEROGA — Samantha Ida’s second-half goal proved to be the difference as the Vikings outlasted the Sentinels.

Taylor Sprague got Moriah on the board at the 8:34 mark of the first half on an assist from Sarah Slattery.

Kylie Austin, on a penalty shot, tied the game at one before the half for Ticonderoga.

Ida, with Slattery adding her second assist of the game, scored the game-winner on the lone goal of the second half.

Lauren Cross picked up the victory in net with six saves. Sadie Hamel stopped 11 shots in the loss for the Sentinels.

OLMSTEDVILLE — It was obvious that neither the Beavers nor the Mountaineers wanted to lose Wednesday.

And, in the end neither did.

Minerva/Newcomb and Keene battled to a 3-3 tie, which included a goal for each team in the overtime periods.

Makenzie Winslow gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead at halftime with a goal at the 32:11 mark.
