State champs enter Keeseville tourney

KEESEVILLE -- All-American Sports of Albany, the reigning state champion, will lead the field in the Annual Homer Marsha Modified Softball Tournament scheduled for this weekend in Keeseville.

The 12-team tournament gets under way at 9 a.m. Saturday with play at the Jaycee Park and VFW. Play in the double-elimination tourney will continue into the night Saturday and resume at 9 a.m. Sunday with the championship game slated to start at 4:30 p.m. Two former tournament champions also are in the field -- Shooter's of Yorktown, the 2007 winner, and Grady Dancer of Potsdam, the 2006 champion.

Brookie's of Keeseville, runner-up last year, is currently undefeated in the Keeseville Softball League. Loreman's, Finney Sports/Prays Market, AuSable Spirits, Sandy's Hair Hut are also from the Keeseville Softball League.

Pit Stop of Potsdam is the regular-season champion of the Town and Tavern league in St. Lawrence County while the

BFD Rangers is a top team from the Albany Firemen's League.

There will be a concession stand at the VFW in Keeseville with food and cold beverages be served all day.
