Huskies shut out 'Jacks in boys' ice hockey


MALONE — Franklin Academy took advantage of both of its power-play opportunities Tuesday as it shut out Tupper Lake 2-0 in Northern Athletic Conference hockey.

Tanner Studlack scored an unassisted power-play goal at 8:14 of the second period, and then he assisted on Cameron Daniels’ power-play marker late in the period. Kelsey Head also earned an assist.

The Huskies held the Lumberjacks to 0-for-4 on the power play.

“Special teams did a nice job tonight for us,” Franklin Academy coach Chuck Dievendorf said.

Joey Brown turned away all 14 shots he faced in the Franklin Academy (8-11-1, 4-8-1) net.

Studlack, Daniels, Head and Shawn Mulverhill were recognized on Senior Night.

“I wish our seniors the best of luck. They’ve been an important part of our program the last four years, and they did a nice job (Tuesday) on the ice,” Dievendorf said.

Marcus Richer made 29 saves for Tupper Lake.
