CLINTONVILLE — Keegan Ryan scored 36 points Wednesday night and Beekmantown needed every one of them.
Ryan hit the game-winning basket with three seconds left as the Eagles outlasted AuSable Valley, 64-62 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ basketball.

Ryan also grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds, while Greg Manney and Brennan Pelkey added eight points each and Sam Trombly, five assists.
Zach Cosgrove tossed in 20 points for the Patriots and was followed by John Goodnough with 15 and Shane Douglas, 14.
AuSable Valley held a 53-48 lead entering the fourth quarter.
“We were down by five and then they scored the first basket of the fourth to put us down seven,” said Beekmantown coach Ryan Converse. “But we came right back to tie it and it went back-and-forth the rest of the way.
“We hit six-for-six from the foul line near the end and Ryan’s last two free throws tied the game at 62-all. They had the ball with 27 seconds left and we defensed them pretty well before getting a rebound.
“We got the ball to half court and took a timeout with 9.7 seconds remaining. Tyler Begor then had the ball on the wing and somehow got it into the post to Ryan, who had at least two defenders on him. He made the shot with three seconds left. They then threw a long pass and actually got a pretty good look at a two-pointer that rimmed out.”
The Eagles took a 22-14 lead in the first quarter and held a 40-32 advantage at the half. AuSable Valley, however, used a 21-8 run in the third to rally and grab a five-point edge going into the final stanza.
“We kind of controlled the tempo in the first half,” said Converse. “But we had some untimely turnovers in the third quarter and they took advantage.”
