Sophomore Jeremy Dubay scores 34 points and grabs 20 rebounds to lead St. John’s to a 78-65 victory over Northern Adirondack. Kevin Boulrice leads the Bobcats with 24.

Kelly McQueen scores 15 points to lead Westport to a 54-37 triumph over Elizabethtown-Lewis in a battle of MVAC unbeatens. Tina Cortwright leads the Lions with 15.

Suzanne Souza nets 20 points to spark Plattsburgh State to a 59-54 win over Oswego.

Pat Patnode sinks 2 free throws with 4 seconds left to nail down a 61-58 Dannemora victory over Chazy. Dan Smith leads the Knights with 17 while Tom LaPierre scores 27 for Chazy.

Pierre Alain, Plattsburgh State’s leading scorer with 11 goals and 14 assists, leaves school.

Jenny Johnson scores 13 points and Nancy Perry, 9, as Northeastern Clinton tops NAC for its 40th straight victory over a Section VII girls’ basketball opponent.

Shawn Wintermute scores 22 points and grabs 10 rebounds and Jodi Marcotte adds a 12-10 double to lead Willsboro to its 23rd consecutive victory, 58-24 over Crown Point.

Pete Tolhurst’s basket at the buzzer gives Saranac Lake a 64-63 victory over Tupper Lake. Bryan Higgenbotham adds 20 points and 11 rebounds and Don Quinn, 18 points. Paul Monakey and Ray Planty each score 18 for the Lumberjacks.

Ticonderoga upsets previously unbeaten Peru 43-42 with Shelly Russell scoring 29 points for the Sentinels. Allison Spear leads Peru with 16.

40 YEARS AGO (1973)

Cortland wins 29-18 to snap Peru’s dual-meet winning streak at 122, 29 short of the state wrestling record. Garen Arnold wins by pin for Peru with Kris Bruno, Wally Trayah, Bruce Bonville and Randy Cassevah posting decisions.

Elizabethtown-Lewis overcomes Glen Lang’s 28-point effort to defeat Crown Point 76-66 for its ninth straight victory. Dave Olcott scores 26 points to lead the Lions. Byron Couchey adds 16 and Paul Norton, 14.

Steve Parker nets 28 points and Mike Ryan, 16, as unbeaten Saranac rolls to a 77-45 rout of St. John’s before a standing-room-only crowd at Memorial Hall.

50 YEARS AGO (1963)

Neil Breen scores 21 points and John Pelkaus, 20, as Plattsburgh State upsets favored Montclair (N.J.) State 86-79 in overtime. Steve White adds 17 points and 13 rebounds while Tom Loughan’s basket forces overtime.

Michael O’Connor of Plattsburgh wins the special midgets event at the Eastern States Outdoor Speed Skating Championships in Saratoga Springs. Scott Burns, Roxanne Coryer and Debbie LaBombard also earn honors.

Tom Barnett (140 pounds), Bob Brown (147), Al Helson (114) and Phil Bowman (heavyweight) remain unbeaten as Plattsburgh High tops Keeseville 32-11 in wrestling.

Plattsburgh State second baseman Neil Sesselman, who hit .475 for the 1962 season, is named to the NAIA All-American team in baseball.

Carl King scores 42 points to lead OLVA past Beekmantown 88-63. Chuck Shields scores 18 for the Eagles.

60 YEARS AGO (1953)

Frank Dukette scores 29 points to lead Dannemora over Keeseville 71-62. Bennett tallies 21 for the Knights.

Dick Jakish pours in 35 points to spark OLVA to an 88-44 victory over Lyon Mountain. Tarasavage leads the Miners with 14.

Dean Benson is inducted in the military, which prevents him from defending his 175-pound title in the Vermont Golden Gloves.

70 YEARS AGO (1943)

Stokes scores 16 and Flanders, 12, as Plattsburgh defeats Rouses Point 53-30 to take over first place in the Clinton County League.

Myers scores 9 points to lead St. John’s to a 17-13 victory over Mount Assumption in a game marred by 29 fouls. R. Dragoon scores 5 for the Irish.
