PLATTSBURGH — Beartown Ski Area opens for the season today. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday, Tuesday and Saturday hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All trails are open.

Youth bureau re-schedules clinic
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau has rescheduled its cancelled basketball referee certification clinic to Wednesday. The clinic will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the old courthouse building.
Participants must bring all of the following: working papers (if applicant is 17 years of age or under); social security card or birth certificate; picture I.D., driver’s license or school report card.

PSU men’s hockey to help the United Way
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team, at 7 p.m., Jan. 11, will help the United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. Campaign when the Cardinals host Middlebury College at the Stafford Ice Arena.
A pair of tickets to the Oswego-Plattsburgh State hockey game Feb. 16 will be raffled off at this game. The raffle tickets will be sold for $10 and ticket holdres must be present to win. All proceeds benefit the United Way.
Snowshoe race scheduled for Jan. 20
SARANAC — The Cock-A-Doodle-Shoe, a 10k snowshoe race to benefit the New Land Trust in Saranac, will be held at 10 a.m., Jan. 20.
The event, presented by Dion Snowshoes, will have a $150 cash prize for the top overall male and female finishers.
One of the Northeast’s regional qualifiers for the 2013 USSSA National Snowshoe Championships held in Bend, Oregon, this race makes use of the rolling trails that cover most of the New Land Trust’s 287 acres.
The $15 entry fee ($20 the day of the race) will get participants a t-shirt (guaranteed to only those who pre-register), merchandise raffle eligibility and post-race refreshments.
