---- — NCCS athletic award ceremony March 4

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton Central School winter athletic award ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4, in the High School auditorium. All JV and varsity athletes that participated on a winter athletic team are to attend this ceremony. Athletes need to dress appropriately.

North Country Wild make state tournament

PLATTSBURGH — The U16 Plattsburgh Youth Hockey/North Country Wild girls’ team finished second in the Northern Zone sectionals last weekend to qualify for the Tier II State Tournament March 8 to 10 in Potsdam.

The Wild secured the second overall seed with a 6-2 victory over the Troy/Albany Ice Cats.

Players for the Wild include Kara Barber, Liz Bimonte, Olivia Blais, Brielle Carnright, Carlee Casey, Kiana Fell, Carissa Kennedy, Mia Kennedy, Kinnan Latremore, Katie Matott, Brittany Miner, Katy Snyder, Kennedy Snyder, Bridget Sullivan, Maddie Tucker, and Kayleigh Bell. The team is coached by Steve Fell, Mark Blais, Kara Buehler and Curtis Latremore.

Civic Center holding open hockey, public skating

ROUSES POINT — Open Hockey ($5) will be held at The Rouses Point Civic Center every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:20 a.m.

Public Skating ($2) will be offered on the following dates:

March 1: 4 to 5:20 p.m.

March 2 and 16: 5 to 6:50 p.m.

March 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22: 4 to 5:20 p.m.

Strides for James registration open

POINT AU ROCHE — Strides for James is a 5k/10k, 1-mile walk and fun run to be held May 11, starting at 9 a.m., at Point Au Roche State Park. All proceeds go towards the James Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Clinton Community College. The James Dean Wilson Scholarship Fund was created as a way to remember a son, brother, friend and co-worker. In June 2012, James’ life was cut short by a tragic motorcycle accident. He was 26 years old and is missed every day.
