Plattsburgh State baseball opener postponed

PLATTSBURGH — Due to the poor weather conditions that are anticipated for Saturday, the Plattsburgh State baseball team has postponed its season opener.

They were originally scheduled to face St. John Fisher and King’s College, in the Diamond Nation Tournament, on Saturday, Feb. 23; however the Cardinals will now play St. John Fisher at noon on Sunday, April 14 in Rochester.

Instead of playing King’s College this season, the Cardinals will try and pick up another game at some point during the 2013 season.

Plattsburgh will begin its season on Friday, March 8 when it takes on the College of Old Westbury as part of the SUNYAC/Skyline Challenge. The game will begin at 1 p.m. in Old Westbury.


IAABO tournament Saturday in Peru

PERU — The eighth-annual IAABO #43 Boys Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday at Peru Central School. Sixteen teams will compete in a three-division format. Action gets started at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday morning. A portion of the proceeds will go to local senior scholarships.


9 a.m.- High school Gym: Brushton-Moira vs. Queensbury. Middle School Gym: Moriah vs. Saranac

10 a.m.- High school Gym: Veterans Basketball Association vs. Ticonderoga. Middle School Gym: Massena vs. HAYC3 Panthers

11 a.m.- High school Gym: Schuylerville vs. Clifton Park. Middle School Gym: Plattsburgh Kings vs. Red Devils

Noon- High school Gym: Northville vs. Peru. Middle School Gym: Malone vs. Ausable Forks.

1 p.m. to 4 p.m.- Second-round games in both gyms


9 a.m. to 1 p.m.- A, B and C division quarterfinals and semifinals

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.- A, B and C division Championship games


Mike’s Garage Grapplers compete in tourney

Mike’s Garage Grapplers competed in the Ausable Pee Wee Wrestling Tournament.

1st place- Tyler Ormsby, Rocky Hebert, Alijah Seymour, Ashton Seymour, Zack Sawyers, Brady Bushey, Hunter Guero, Conner Witkiewicz.

2nd place- Kellen Blake, Kasen Brendan, Gavin Patron, Bryce Wiggins, Eric Willis.

3rd place- Riley Hebert, Devin Blake, Avery Guay, Cole McKee, Mason Dubrey.

4th place- Jack Hayes.
