SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College women’s basketball team was in a giving mood Tuesday.
Twelve players recorded two or more points in its 78-29 drubbing of Word of Life Bible Institute.
The Saints (2-1) scored 39 points in each of the two halves, while surrendering just 11 points to Word of Life in the final 20 minutes of play.
Coach Jerrad Dumont was pleased with Tori Pennington’s performance.
“She played well,” Dumont said. “She led us in scoring with 12 and got out and led us in transition. She got wide and got a couple open looks because of it. Caitlyn LaPage also had six rebounds, which was also good for us.”
Abbey LaPage added 10 points, while Alexis Bridges added eight in the 49-point win.
“I thought we could’ve rebounded the ball a little bit better,” Dumont said. “They had 10 points off second-chance opportunities. We have to box out better.”
After shooting 18.9 percent from 3-point range through its first two games, the Saints hits seven 3-pointers. Shaneika Smith and Bridges each had two.
North Country will play host to Corning Community College Saturday and Finger Lakes Community College Sunday at Chateaugay Central School. The games are slated to begin at 5 p.m. and noon, respectively.
