Sectional volleyball schedule announced

PLATTSBURGH — The Section VII volleyball tournament will begin on Tuesday, with the finals set for November 2 at Clinton Community College.

A quarterfinal match in Class C will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with fifth-seeded Saranac Lake at fourth-seeded Saranac.

The semifinals, with admission being $3 for adults and $2 for students, will be held at 5:30 p.m. on October 31, with third-seeded Northeastern Clinton at second-seeded Plattsburgh High School, and the winner of the Saranac Lake/Saranac match at top-seeded AuSable Valley.

The semifinal winners advance to the finals at 3:30 p.m. on November 2 at Clinton C.C. Admission is $5.

Also on November 2 at Clinton, Peru and Beekmantown will tangle for the Class B championship at 1:30 p.m. and Lake Placid versus Northern Adirondack for the Class D title at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

The Section VII winners will advance to sub-regional play in Section X on November 9.


North Bowl classic league needs 2 bowlers

PLATTSBURGH — The Hartson Total Opening Classic at North Bowl Lanes is in need of two bowlers, one with a 170 average from last year and the other with a 163 from last year.

The league bowls on Wednesday nights and it is a scratch league. Anyone interested can call Duane Hartson, at 643-8758, or North Bowl Lanes, at 561-1690.


Algonquin Chapter of the ADK to hold walk

PLATTSBURGH — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club on Sunday, November 3 as its celebrates the end of daylight savings time at the Point au Roche Park.

Join the Algonquin Chapter for a walk at Point Au Roche, followed by a chili supper. This is a family outing open to all ages. The leader is Lynn Valenti, at 562-0553.


Co-ed hockey to begin at Scotts’ Memorial Rink

CHAZY — Wednesday night co-ed hockey will begin at 9 p.m. on November 13 at Scotts’ Memorial Rink. The hockey is open to beginner and intermediate skaters. The cost for the 16 weeks is $125 and must be paid for the first skate. The cost for each skate is $10.
