Duprey, Heins qualify for 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championships

PLATTSBURGH — Mary Duprey and Bob Heins have qualified for the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championships that will be held in Mont Tremblant, Canada in September of 2014.

Both qualified at the Ironman 70.3 Muskoka, Canada. Mary was third in the women’s 50-54 age group with a time of 5 hours, 38 minutes. Heins won the 70-74 age group with a time of 7:13.

Muskoka is known for its tough bike leg with a vertical increase of 2,600 feet. The 70.3 race is a 1.2 mile swim, 56-plus bike and half marathon run of 13.1 miles. Both athletes with run in new age groups in 2014, with Heins in the 75-79 and Duprey the 55-59.

PSU announces Kids’ Nite Out dates

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State women’s basketball team will host Kids’ Nite Out on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Nov. 9. It is for children ages 5-13 and will include sports, games, swimming, arts & crafts and movies.

The time will be 5:30-9 p.m. at Memorial Hall on the Plattsburgh State campus. The cost is $10 per child with a special family rate of $7 for each additional child.
