Saranac, Peru get two wins apiece

CHAMPLAIN — The Saranac boys took the top five spots as the Chiefs captured a pair of wins against Northeastern Clinton and Saranac Lake in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference cross country Tuesday.

Zach LePage captured first with a time of 18:30 for Saranac. He was followed by teammates Sean Tyrell (18:38), Chad Dashnaw (18:44), Justin Liechty (18:52) and Josh Wade (19:04).

Brady Terry (19:36) paced Peru to a pair of wins with a seventh-place finish. Anthony Piche (19:32) finished sixth for the Cougars, who picked up a win over the Red Storm.

Max Paul (20:45) took 12th to lead the way for Saranac Lake.

The Indians had five runners in the top 10 in the girls’ race to capture a pair of wins.

Maria Remillard captured first with a time of 21:09 for Peru. Cheyanne Dobozy (21:35), Meghan Mazzella (21:50) and Shauna Fliss (22:11) went four-through-six for the Indians, while Abby Adams (22:24) took eighth.

Elysha O’Connell came in third with a time of 21:28 to help the Chiefs to a pair of wins as well. Abby Cerne (22:19) was seventh, while Lexi Haley (22:41) and Janyll Barber (22:44) took ninth and 10th, respectively.

Anna Izzo (23:14) paced Saranac Lake, which defeated Northeastern Clinton, with a 13th-place finish.

Samantha Smith led the way for the Cougars with a second-place finish in a time of 21:20.

BEEKMANTOWN SWEEPS

BEEKMANTOWN — Colin Quackenbush takes the honors for finishing first on a new home course for the Eagles.

Quackenbush finished in 17:04 as Beekmantown captured wins over the Blue Bombers and Patriots.

Lake Placid held on for a win against AuSable Valley.

Jonathan Graziane (17:30), Jordan West (17:35), and Cory Couture (18:06), took the third, fourth and fifth spots, respectively, for the Eagles.

Karl Shultz finished in 17:07 to take second place and pace the Blue Bombers, Brandon Ruocco was top finisher for the Patriots in 18:10 and sixth place.

Nina and Gabby Armstrong stormed the course for Lake Placid on the girls’ side, with Nina taking first, but both finishing with a time of 20:39.

Rachel Kashorek (21:28), took third, Anna Stitt (22:06), was fourth and Jennifer Graziane (24:06), fifth to help Beekmantown to two wins on the day.

Emily Patenaude (24:11), and Rachel Ford (24:18), finished sixth and seventh as the Patriots took home a win against the Blue Bombers.

TI BOYS, SETON GIRLS CRUISE

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh’s Jeriqho Gadway and Seton Catholic’s Evan Page took the top two spots, but the Sentinels took the next five to capture a pair of wins over the Hornets and Knights.

Seton Catholic took the win against Plattsburgh.

Gadway finished first in a time of 14:33 with Page following in second in a time of 15:01.

Ticonderoga’s Shawn Silliman (15:59), Tyler Beldon (16:03), Jake Young (16:53), Cody Parrot (17:04), and Martin Glazer (17:16), went three-through-seven, The Sentinels had six finish in the top 10.

In the girls’ race, Seton Catholic dominated the course to pick up two victories, The first five to cross the finish line were Knights.

Plattsburgh was a winner over Ticonderoga.

Margaret Champagne captured the race in a time of 17:35 with teammate Melissa Whyman coming in just behind at 17:55, Ashley Leta (18:09), Maddy Munn (19:16), and Sofia DeJordy (19:28), rounded out the top five.

Plattsburgh’s Claire Deshaies came in sixth with a time of 19:35, while Ticonderoga was paced by Naomi Forkas’ seventh-place finish in 20:18.
