— It was four in a row last year for the Beekmantown Eagles as they captured the Section VII championship in gymnastics.
The Eagles, led by all-around champion Alyssa Leonard, defeated Peru, 154.250-148.025, for its fourth straight title a season ago.

All three Section VII teams lost just a few from last year’s squad, so the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season could be wide open this season.
Leonard, who edged Plattsburgh’s Dalen Keswick in the Section VII all around, returns for her senior season to lead the way for the Eagles.
Erica Leonard and Kailey Quackenbush each finished tied for sixth in the all around a season ago, and will be looked to again this season for high marks.
Lydia Gricoski returns from a season-ending injury last year to give Beekmantown a little more depth, which it needs with only eight on the roster.

The Hornets lost only one gymnast to graduation, but that gymnast was Dalen Keswick, runner-up to Leonard in last season’s all-around title.
With the loss of Keswick, Plattsburgh becomes very young with no upperclassmen on the roster.
Madison Baker (eighth grade), Juliana Baker (ninth grade), Julia Karkoski (10th grade), Hannah Kaltenbach (ninth grade) and Paige Kreckel (10th grade) all return and will all be relied upon this season.
Newcomer Faith Rand (seventh grade) is a strong addition to the team this year.

The Indians are coming off a strong gymnastics season with a 5-1 regular season record and taking second to Beekmantown at the Section VII championships.
Peru returns Alexandra Brown (fifth) and Lexi Trombley (third), who each finished in the top six of the all-around title.
Molly Lawliss and Lierah LaGrave are two veterans that will help Brown and Trombley, while newcomers Allison Timmons, Emily Vogt, Emilie Morgan and Sarah Tavernia will provide the Indians solid depth.
Peru comes into the season with 14 on its roster, more than any other team in the CVAC.
