The legendary Roberto Clemente Sr. was born in Puerto Rico and played right field for 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973 after his death in 1972. Widely known for his humanitarian work, Clemente died while on a flight that was delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

Roberto Clemente III said he has learned a lot from his grandfather’s legacy and wants to carry on his traits of being a man of character.

Jingle Bell Jog, Fun Run Dec. 7

AUSABLE FORKS — The Jingle Bell Jog and Fun Run will take place in AuSable Forks Dec. 7.

The Jingle Bell Fun Run, which is approximately three-quarters of a mile, is free for kids ages 4 to10 and starts at 12:30 p.m. as part of the Christmas in the Forks celebration.

The Jingle Bell Jog, which is approximately 2.5 miles and for teens and adults, begins at 12:45 p.m. and has a participation fee of $10.

All proceeds from the Jingle Bell Jog will benefit the Hollywood Theatre and the Go Digital or Go Dark campaign. Those interested can sign up for each event beginning at 11:45 a.m. at the Jay Community Center.

Both runs require each participant to pick up s’mores ingredients along the route and finish back at the Community Center where there will be a fire pit to toast them up.

Ski/Snowboard Club at Titus Mountain

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a Ski/Snowboard Club to all Town of Plattsburgh youth ages 8 to18 at Titus Mountain.

The cost for each youth participant is $120, which will include six pre-selected sessions: Jan. 11, Jan. 25, Feb. 1, Feb. 8, March 1 and March 8. Each participant may purchase a rental package for $99 for the six sessions.
