Pose Running Clinic scheduledfor Nov. 23

PLATTSBURGH — RunStrong4Life will hold its first Pose Method Running Clinic at WELCare Chiropractic Nov. 23 from 1-5 p.m.

The clinic will include Pose technique drills, video analysis, mobility and a raffle for one-hour personal Pose training, a $50 value. It will introduce the concept of having a standard in running, through using a series of drills to teach the technique.

Runners can run faster, stronger and prevent injuries by learning the skill of running Pose.

The fee is $50 and signups are at WELCare or by emailing Space limited to 20 participants. Clinic will be inside and out, so dress for weather.

Peru graduate trains trotter Jelectric

SARATOGA — Mary Aliss Gast, a graduate of Peru, was a trainer for a 3-year old trotter named Jelectric during this summer’s racing season.

Jelectric was part of the Excelsior Division of the New York Sire Stakes. He was entered in a lote closer stakes racing program at Saratoga Harness in the last Sunday of Oct. and the first Sunday of Nov. On Nov. 10 he captured the final and won $29,200.

Clemente III to play baseball at SUNY Canton

CANTON — The family of National Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente visited SUNY Canton Wednesday.

Clemente’s widow, Vera, and their son Roberto Clemente Jr., made the trip to the U.S. from Puerto Rico to visit Roberto Jr.’s grandson, Roberto Clemente III, who is a freshman at SUNY Canton and will play baseball next semester.

This visit marked Vera’s first visity to the North Country. She said she loved the people and will return to watch her grandson play baseball in the spring.
