Fine-Lease apart of scholar-athlete team award

PLATTSBURGH — With a cumulative 94.31 average, the Plattsburgh High boys’ hockey team earned a state scholar-athlete award from the NYSPHSAA.

John Fine-Lease, whose named was excluded in Plattsburgh High’s Sports Shorts announcement March 22, was a participating member of the boys’ hockey team.

Brown, Davey win at Silver Championships

TROY — The Lake Champlain Waves swim team sent 16 swimmers to the annual Silver Championships held at the Robison Pool at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute March 7 through 9.

The Waves were represented by Andie Abdallah, Olivia Barnett, Sydney Barnett, Stella Boolukos-Brinker, Lydia Brown, Emily Conners, Madeline Dame, Kelly Davey, Meghan Davey, Mikayla Fountain, Emily McCormick, Emily McLane, Killyan Ruff, Alison Silver, Meghan Sorrell and Bailey VanArman.

Brown placed first overall in the 200 butterfly (13 and 14 year old age group) and Kelly Davey placed first overall in the 100 freestyle (15 and over age group).

Many other Waves swimmers placed in the top 10 overall. VanArman earned top-10 honors for the boys, while Abdallah, Olivia Barnett and McCormick finished inside the top 10 on the girls side.
