USA Luge, 93.3 WSLP FM to hold fundraiser

LAKE PLACID — USA Luge and 93.3 WSLP FM in Lake Placid are teaming up for a post-Olympic fundraiser to celebrate the achievements of Erin Hamlin and the entire United States Luge team from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 27. Fans outside of the Lake Placid area can listen online at

Hamlin made history Feb. 11 when she became the first Olympic singles medalist from the U. S. In addition, she was the first female in U.S. history to win an Olympic luge medal.

The fundraiser will benefit the athletes and programs of USA Luge. The organization is responsible for recruiting, training, developing and supporting athletes.

Fans can shop and bid now on USA Luge auction items at During the broadcast, fans can tune in to hear interviews with members of the U.S. Olympic Team and get updates on auction bids.

The U.S. Olympic Committee has issued a challenge grant to USA Luge: raise $35,000 in 2014 through donations and fundraisers and those funds will be matched dollar for dollar. USA Luge has raised $28,000 and is asking for help to cross the $35,000 mark during the 93.3 WSLP fundraiser.

USA Luge will also be offering rides at its Lake Placid headquarters, located at 57 Church Street, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. for a $10 donation.

More items will be available for purchase by tuning in, including items from Cake Placid, Golf rounds from the Lake Placid Crown Plaza, Coakley Ace Hardware, Pan Dolce in Lake Placid, Emma’s Lake Placid Creamery, CW-X, Dow Chemical, The New Jersey Devils and more.
