Beekmantown shuts out Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE — Twenty-four hours removed from a heartbreaking loss, it was business as usual for the Beekmantown girls’ hockey team Monday.

Katie Matott scored twice, helping the Eagles upend Saranac Lake in an Upstate Girls’ Hockey League tilt at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.

“It was a nice win heading into a big weekend with games at Canton Thursday and home against Albany Academy Friday in a league game,” Beekmantown coach Ray Guay said. “We rolled four lines and everyone got a lot of ice time, which was good.”

Clara Giroux, Kiley Regan and Conner LaPierre also scored for Guay’s Eagles.

Kayleigh Bell fended off all 11 shots faced, recording the shutout.

Lindsey Reeve and Arianna Patraw combined to make 31 saves in the five-goal loss.

Beekmantown managed a 36-11 lead in shots on goal in the contest.
