The Indians (7-9, 2-2) held a 37-29 lead, with just the two matches remaining.
But Cook won by decision at 182 to pull Beekmantown (7-7, 3-1) to within 37-32 and then Defayette’s quick pin at 195 gave the Eagles the one-point victory.
Bruce Goddeau (220), Justin Steady (285), Jon Graziane (132), Eathan Bacon (145) and Defayette all won by fall for Beekmantown, while Casey Provost (120) was a winner by technical fall as the Eagles made good use of their seven victories.
Carson Dobozy (99) and Jay Oakes (138) recorded pins for the Indians, while Brandon Goddeau (106), Colin Hogan (113), Ethan Feazelle (126) and Tanner Phillips (160) won by decision.
Beekmantown, which is second in the CVAC standings behind Saranac, had to overcome two forfeits, with Peru’s Aaron Bell winning at 152 and Jordan Bushey at 170.
“The match started at 220 and it was tight throughout,” Beekmantown coach Lenny Gadway said. “It was a great wrestling match. Peru had to report first at 138 and it was, ultimately, the turning point in the match.”
