North Star holds lead in CYO basketball

MALONE — Maranatha Bible Church, North Star and Chateaugay picked up victories this past weekend in the Franklin CYO Basketball League.

The game was close all the way, with Langdon holding a 23-20 halftime lead until Maranatha’s defense and rebounding took over.

Matt Fish led Maranatha with 13 points, while Ben Haug added nine points to go along with 13 rebounds.

Langdon’s was paced by Abe Gravel, who finished with 12 points and nine steals.

NORTH STAR 65ST. JOHN BOSCO 36

Mike LaVoie played a strong all-around game for North Star with 18 points, four steals and three assists.

Alex Shackett finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Nick Lamica added 14 points and six assists.

John Armstrong paced St. John Bosco with a double-double of 19 points and 20 boards, while Austin Gonia added seven points and six assists.

CHATEAUGAY 72BANGOR 52

Colby Woodward powered Chateaugay with 25 points, followed by Adam Beane with 10 and Mike Campbell 13, including 10 in the fourth quarter when the winners broke the game open.

Bangor was led by Shon Johal with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Gadley finished with nine points.
