CYO leaders score narrow victories

MALONE — Bangor and North Star both picked up close victories this past weekend in the Franklin CYO Basketball League.

Bangor edged out a 64-63 win over Maranatha Bible School, while North Star was a 66-60 winner over Bangor.

Elsewhere, St. John Bosco picked up a 50-28 decision over the Langdon Land Surveyors and the Ogdensburg Boys & Girls Club recorded an 83-49 win over Maranatha.

Balanced scoring was the key for North Stars as four players ended up in double figures.

Alex Shackett led the way with 20 points, followed by Mike LaVoie with 18, Jared Webb 12 and Nick Lamica, 10.

Adam Beane paced Chateaugay with a game-high 29 points, a season and personal high, while Zach Cook added 23.

John Armstrong played an outstanding game for St. John Bosco with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Abe Gravel was the leading scorer for Langdon with nine points.

BANGOR 64MARANATHA 63

The lead changed hands seven times in the last four minutes. The game came down to who had the ball last and Bangor ended up on top.

Shon Johal led the winners with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dylan Skelton added 13 points.

Maranatha was paced by Ben Haug with 24 points and Matt Fish with 13.

OGDENSBURG 83MARANATHA 49

Rudy Binion quarterbacked the explosive offensive attack for Ogdensburg (6-1) with 27 assists.

Ryan Petell scored 18 points, including 14 in the first quarter, and blocked nine shots. Dylan LaFleur contributed16 points, including 14 in the second half, off the bench and Spencer Mayette finished with 15 points.

Mike Shaw paced Maranatha with 10 points.
