Chateaugay girls roll past St. Regis Falls

CHATEAUGAY — The Chateaugay girls’ basketball team wasted no time getting the jump on St. Regis Falls Saturday.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 32-13 halftime lead and fended off the Saints in the second half for a 54-26 win in Northern Athletic Conference play.

Danielle Charland and Katie Beach each scored 10 points apiece, while Caitlin Miller added nine points, six blocks and three steals.

Abby Barnes had 11 rebounds and Hannah Cook totaled three steals.

Lake Placid 27, Ticonderoga 19

LAKE PLACID — The Blue Bombers and Sentinels were engaged in a defensive battle as both teams struggled to score through the first three quarters.

“Having not played in a week, it took awhile for our girls to get going (Friday),” Lake Placid coach Jeff Potter said.

Hanna Potter led the charge for the Blue Bombers, totaling seven points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Chloe Uebrick added five points, 14 rebounds and four steals.

Ticonderoga’s Tiffani Purkey (8) and Kylie Austin (7) combined for 15 points in the loss.

“This was a big win for our program after losing in overtime to the Sentinels earlier in the season,” Potter said.

Minerva/Newcomb 69, Schroon Lake 17

SCHROON LAKE — Astasia Myler accumulated 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Mountaineers outscored the Wildcats by a 33-3 margin in the second half.

Makenzie Winslow added 17 points in Minerva/Newcomb’s 52-point win.
