Snowmobile drag races scheduled for Feb. 15

KINGS BAY — The Northern Tier Sno Runners has scheduled its 2014 Annual Snowmobile Ice Drag Races for Feb. 15 on King’s Bay in the Town of Champlain.

The races start at noon. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and costs $25.

All races will be conducted under International Snowmobile Racing regulations. There are multiple classes, with a series of single elimination races used to determine a champion in each class.

Admission to watch the races is $5 per person, with children under 10 free. The entrance to the event is from Kings Bay Road, off Route 9B near the Lakeview Pub and Grill.

The club is seeking volunteers to help with the event.

In the event of rain, the races will be rescheduled for March 1.

The event is a fundraiser for the club, to help with trail grooming and maintenance.

Plattsburgh YMCA has openings for indoor soccer

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA has openings for its indoor soccer league for boys and girls ages four through seven. This program is divided into two divisions: Kickers (ages 4 and 5) and Dribblers (ages 6 and 7).

The program runs from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. at the YMCA gym once a week during the week for the Kicker (Tuesday or Thursday) and 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. once a week during the week for the Dribblers (Monday or Friday). This instructional league is designed to be a fun, family activity, while learning how to play soccer.

You may register at the Downtown YMCA at 17 Oak St. Children from all area communities are welcome to participate. The practice/games will run for one hour for eight weeks beginning the week of February 10. Children will receive a t-shirt uniform and a trophy. Volunteer coaches are needed for this program.
