2 Seton Catholic runners claim medals

BOSTON — Two Seton Catholic athletes earned medals Saturday in the MSTCA Boston Holliday Challenge held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College.

Senior Melissa Whyman finished fourth in the girls’ varsity seeded mile with a time of 5:17.92 while teammate Margaret Champagne, a sophomore, placed fifth in 5:19:17.

Karina Shepard of Dracut won the event with a new meet-record time of 5:07.68.

Ashley Leta, a senior at Seton Catholic, also competed, finishing eighth in 5:27.59.

There were 31 runners competing in 3 heats.
