NAC takes 4th in tournament

QUEENSBURY — The Northern Adirondack wrestling team finished in fourth place in the team standings over the weekend at the Queensbury Holiday Festival.

Host Queensbury won the event with 205.5 points, followed by Hadley-Luzerne/Lake George in second with 196 and Hudson Falls third at 194. The Bobcats ended up with 131.5 points.

Northern Adirondack didn’t have any individual champions, but Roland LaPoint (113), Austin Trombley (132), Collin LaBombard (152) and Matt Lashway (182) all finished in second place in their respective weight classes.

LaPoint went 1-1 and was pinned in 4:45 by Hadley-Luzerne/Lake George’s Gideon Jardine in the finals at 113. Trombley finished 1-1 at 132 and dropped a 13-0 decision to Salem’s Carter Merecki in the finals.

LaBombard ended up with a 2-1 record at 152 and lost a close 6-5 decision to Queensbury’s Dillon Deckert in the championship match. Lashway finished 2-1 at 182 and was pinned in 3:34 by Hadley-Luzerne/Lake George’s Forrest Kubricky in his title bout.

The Bobcats’ Jace Filion placed third at 99.
