NEW YORK — Several Seton Catholic runners proved their abilities in New York City as they competed in the Armory Youth Classic.
The athletes competed as the Knights Track Club at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
Those athletes placing in the event were sophomore, Margaret Champagne, senior Melissa Whyman, senior Ashley Leta and eighth grader Caleb Moore.
Champagne put on a dominating performance, winning the one-mile run in the 15-16 year old category in 5:25.10. She also took first in the 800-meter run in the same category in a time of 2:30.56.
Whyman placed second in the one-mile in the 17-18 year old category in 5:25.10 after having battled injury throughout the season. She ran the 800 in 2:34.72.
Leta took fifth in the 800 in the 17-18 year old category in a time of 2:26.98.
Moore was second in the one-mile run in the 13-14 year old category in a time of 5:14.06. He took fourth in the same age category of the 800 in 2:31.20.
