Umpires meeting set for Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The Lyon Mountain Baseball Umpires Association meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 20 on the Quarry Road.

Anyone interested in becoming an umpire should call Tom at 578-5863.

Rough Riders take third in League

PLATTSBURGH — The Rough Riders Rifle team defeated Jamestown by one point (1567-1566) to finish in third place in this week’s Vt. Winter Postal League.

Peter Visconti shot a 396 leading the Rough Riders, who currently are in fourth place out of fifteen teams. Ron Patric fired a 379 for the Plattsburgh Aces, who finished fourth in the Eastern Division.

The Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club also sponsors the Junior Rough Riders, who compete in the same league. For more information contact Norbert Yakey at 298-5161.

Eagles break records in track and field

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Eagles girls’ indoor track and field team recently set three new school records.

Kirsten Villemaire broke her own 1,500 meter record with a time of 4:57.3. Courtney Wilson also bettered her own long jump record with a 16’4” distance. The 400 meter relay team broke their previous record for the third time this season with a time of 1:28.2.

Results from Winter Adventure Race

PLATTSBURGH — Forty kids participated in the Feb. 15 Winter Adventure Race hosted by the Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department and the Clinton County Youth Bureau.

The final race will be held on Feb. 22 with registering beginning at 2 p.m. at the former Cedar Knoll Building on the Military Turnpike. For more information please contact the Clinton County Youth Bureau at 564-4750.
