Bulldogs move into Section X semifinals

OGDENSBURG — Abby Barnes scored a game-high 23 points to lead the second-seeded Chateaugay to a 59-39 victory over 10th-seeded Chateaugay on Saturday in the Section X girls’ basketball quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs will oppose third-seeded Hermon DeKalb in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at SUNY Canton. The other semifinal has fourth-seeded Madrid-Waddington going up against top-seeded Heuvelton.

Hannah Cook added 11 points, including 7-of-8 from the line, for Chateaugay. The Bulldogs connected on 23-of-36 from the charity stripe.

Chateaugay held a 29-17 lead at the half and put it away with an 18-11 run in the fourth quarter.

Jessie Geddes paced Morristown with 14 points and Taylor Piercey added 10.

WILLSBORO 43, JOHNSBURG 32

NORTH CREEK — Andrea O’Hara tossed in 17 points to power the Warriors to a Northern Basketball League non-league win over the Jaguars on Saturday.

Taylor Bigelow and Payton Gough chipped in with six points apiece for Willsboro, which held a 21-11 halftime lead.

Paige Guy led Johnsburg with 13 points and Makayla Denno followed with eight.

NORTH CREEK — Nick Arnold poured in 21 of his game-high 27 points in the second half Saturday to lead Willsboro past Johnsburg in nonleague play.

Arnold also led the Warriors with 10 rebounds.

Nolan Murphy chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds for Willsboro and Lucas Cross finished with nine points.

Dylan Moore paced the Jaguars with 13 points, followed by Ty Berg with 10 and Clayton Smith, eight.

Johnsburg kept it close by hitting six 3-pointers in the contest.
