ITHACA — In her first indoor track and field meet in a Plattsburgh State uniform, sophomore Jess Huber broke a 15-year-old school record with an 8.20 second performance in the prelims of the 60-meter dash before bettering that mark with an 8.17 second eighth-place finish in the finals of the event at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Saturday.
The previous 60-meter dash record of 8.24 seconds was set by Laurie Delilli in 1999. In addition to her record-breaking performance, Huber, the former Beekmantown standout, lined up in the starting blocks for the 200-meter dash and posted an eighth-place, ECAC qualifying time of 26.88 seconds in the sprint.
Two weeks after qualifying for the ECAC meet in the 5,000-meter run, senior Kelley Driscoll raced to a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. She was clocked in a time of 10:20.63, outpacing her nearest competitor by over nine seconds. The time she turned in was 25 seconds faster than the posted ECAC qualifying time for the event.
Katie Ehmann lined up in the starting blocks with Driscoll, and finished five seconds slower than the ECAC qualifying cut. Her time of 10:50.88 was enough to earn the Kingston, N.Y., product a 12th-place finish.
