Ryan powers Seton Catholic past AuSable Valley

CLINTONVILLE — Mitchell Ryan captured four victories to help Seton Catholic narrowly edge AuSable Valley, 63-60, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ track and field Tuesday.

Ryan took first in the 400 hurdles (1:06.5), the 1,600 (4:39.7) and was part of the 3,200 relay (9:41.7) and the 1,600 relay (4:47.4).

Evan Page was a three-time winner for the Knights, taking the 400 (56.5), the 800 (2:13.8) and teamed with Ryan in the 3,200 relay.

Chris Kustos, Sam LaFrance and Steven Murray each chipped in with two wins on the day.

Paul Ford paced the Patriots with three wins, capturing the 110 hurdles (16.9), the triple jump (39 feet, 0 inches) and the high jump (6-0).

Hank McCormick and Eli Blaise won two events apiece for AuSable Valley.

Margaret Champagne and Melissa Whyman each had three victories on the afternoon as the Knights held off the Patriots, 61-58.

Champagne won the 1,500 (5:23.1), the 3,000 (12:01) and was part of the 3,200 relay (12:09.2).

Whyman was first in the 400 (1:02.1), the 800 (2:37.2) and was part of the 1,600 relay (5:10.2).

Maddison Murnane and Paige Spittler each chipped in with two wins for Seton Catholic.

Rachel Knapp, Haley Taylor and Ashlee Estes paced AuSable Valley with two wins apiece.

Knapp captured the 100 (13.3) and the 200 (28.0), with Taylor winning the shot put (25-9) and the discus (65-8), while Estes was the winner in the high jump (4-0) and the long jump (14-5½).

BEEKMANTOWN — Kallie Villemaire come away with four victories as the Eagles defeated the Red Storm.

Villemaire was first in the 100 (12.9), high jump (4 feet, 6 inches), the 200 (26.5) and was part of the 400 relay (52.9).

Kirsten Villemaire and Courtney Wilson were each three-time winners. Kirsten Villemaire took first in the 1,500 (5:39.7), the 800 (2:39.4) and was part of the 3,200 relay (11:01.5). Wilson captured first in the 400 relay, the long jump (15-5) and the triple jump (31-5).

Amanda Peterson, Emily Anderson and Mikaela Frechette were each two-time winners for Beekmantown.

Vanessa Salamy and Annie Frenette both won twice for Saranac Lake. Salamy won the 100 hurdles (16.8), Frenette took the 400 (1:14.2) and both were part of the 1,600 relay (4:26.1).

Colin Quackenbush and Nate Foster both captured three events to help lead the Eagles over the Red Storm.

Quackenbush was a winner in the 3,200 (11:25.4), the 1,600 (5:06.5) and was part of the 3,200 relay (9:20.3). Foster claimed first place in the high jump (5-8), the 100 hurdles (17.3) and was part of the 400 relay (48.1).

Brogan Arthur, Cody Watts and Mathew LaClair all picked up two wins for Beekmantown.

Alex Beaudoin paced Saranac Lake with three victories, claiming the 100 (11.2), the 200 (23.4) and the 1,600 relay (4:23.1).

Craig Leahy and Kevin Morgan captured two wins on the afternoon.

PERU — Ashley Leta was a four-time winner as the Indians knocked off the Cougars.

Leta won the 1,500 (5:15), the 800 (2:41.3) and was part of both the 3,200 relay (10:54.6) and the 1,600 relay (4:59).

Autumn Wiley and Maria Remillard each captured three events for Peru. Wiley took the 200 (29.6) and was part of the 400 relay (56.7) and 1,600 relay. Remillard won the 3,000 (11:45), the 400 hurdles (1:18.9) and was part of the 3,200 relay.

Brittany Bridges and Rebecca Romanowicz each finished with two wins.

Mallory Honan paced Northeastern Clinton with four victories on the day. Honan was first in the 100 (12.8), the 100 hurdles (15.6), the triple jump (34-10) and the long jump (16-3).

Five different athletes captured three events apiece to lead Peru over the Cougars in boys’ track.

Tom Mathews, William Thew, Josh Romanowicz and Nathan Morgan were first in both the 3,200 relay (10:37) and the 1,600 relay (4:21). Morgan was also part of the 400 relay (48.3) with two-time winner Tim Remillard.

Mathews added a win in the triple jump (34-0), Thew took first in the 400 (54.3) and Romanowicz took the 1,600 (5:19).

Austin Porter also captured two victories for the Indians.

Rodney Grimshaw led Northeastern Clinton with three victories, taking first in the 100 (11.6), the 200 (24.1) and the long jump (18-8). Anthony Piche was a two-time winner.
