Chazy vaults past Panthers into lead

CROWN POINT — Chazy capitalized on Crown Point’s uncharacteristic wildness Monday to thrash the Panthers 16-5 and take over first place in the Northern Division of Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference baseball.

The Eagles (9-1, 8-1) were outhit 7-5, but made the most of 10 Panther errors, 11 bases on balls, four hit-batsmen and six wild pitches. Chazy put up a 7-spot in the fourth inning and another in the seventh.

Nathan Reynolds and Hayden Guay each drove in three runs while Josh Peete plated a pair with two hits.

Kyle Bisonette went the distance for the victory, striking out 12 while walking one and hitting one batter.

Luke Finamore had two hits for Crown Point (8-3), which suffered its first loss in the division.

The three Crown Point pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts.

INDIAN LAKE — The Orange belted out six doubles and Colin Farrell was strong on the mound in their victory against the Mountaineers.

Farrell struck out 10 batters and allowed just two hits on his way to the victory for Indian Lake/Long Lake (6-4).

Henry Sandiford went 3-for-3 from the plate with two doubles and three RBI. Matt Moore added two hits, including a double and four RBI, while Arthur Jennings was 2-for-2 with a double. Chaitin Giessen and Curtis Seaman each finished with a double.

Steven Viele and Austin Williams supplied the lone hits of the game for Minerva/Newcomb (5-5).

Wesley LaBar took the loss for the Mountaineers.
