---- — Malone softball league to begin Monday

MALONE — The Malone AMVETS Gentlemen’s Slow Pitch Softball League will start the 2013 May 13 after a week’s delay due to work being done on the field.

There are 12 teams in the league this season.


Monday, May 13 — Bill’s General Repair vs Mudcats, 8 p.m.; Bomb Squad vs American Siding, 9:15 p.m.

Tuesday, May 14 — Performance Shooting vs H & R Block, 8 p.m.; Shat’s Deli vs Graymont Materials, 9:15 p.m.

Wednesday, May 15 — St. Mary’s Livestock vs Tony’s Auto, 8 p.m.; AMVETS vs Bill’s General Repair, 9 p.m.

Thursday, May 16 — Graymont Materials vs Performance Shooting, 8 p.m.; Mudcats vs Nichols Electric, 9:15 p.m.

Friday, May 17 — Nichols Electric vs Bomb Squad, 8 p.m.; H & R Block vs St. Mary’s Livestock, 9:15 p.m.


North Country Golf Club sets two tourneys

ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club will host the Mini Players Championship Sunday at 1 p.m. All players are eligible for the stroke-play event with prizes for top three in each flight.

The North Country Shootout will be held May 27 beginning at 10 a.m. All players are eligible; there will be two men’s flights and two woman’s flights. All players will play nine holes.

The players then break for lunch, the players will be repaired according to score, then tee off for the last 9 holes, lowest gross score will win each flight, cost for members is $20.

Cost for non-members is $40 with a cart included. To sign up, please call golf shop.


Roy Bristol shoots hole-in-one

PORT HENRY — Roy Bristol of Moriah got a hole-in-one May 8 in the Wednesday Night Men’s League at Moriah Country Club. He used a 9 iron to ace the par-3, 137-yard third hole.

Witnesses were Bob Tur, Chip Perry and Tom Marcil.


Castle, LaFave win Love My Park 5K Trail Run

POINT AU ROCHE —The Friends of Point au Roche State Park hosted the 5k Trail run in conjunction with NY State Love My Park Day on May 4.

Rooney Castle from Charlotte, Vt., was the overall winner with a time of 19:22 followed by Jason Amoriell at 19:55 and Rory Carroll (22:24).

Darci LaFave of Lake Placid was the overall female winner in a time of 23:40 followed by Victoria Duprey at 26:43 and Alexa Sorrell (27:25).

Sixth Annual T&T Golf Classic set for June 1

TICONDEROGA — The sixth annual T&T Golf Classic will be held June 1 at the Ticonderoga Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

This is a four-person scramble with lots of prizes and Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest.

Registration is $74 per person, which includes cart, dinner and prizes.
