Newcomer Price hits game-winner for Eagles



After Logan Snow’s bases-loaded triple, Kendra Niemann was credited with an RBI single, extending the differential to two runs.

Kolbi Lyon led the Hornets with three hits, while Karlie Neale totaled two hits, respectively.

Madison Rondeau went the distance for AuSable Valley, throwing 10 strikeouts in the process.

Jamie Bedard was tagged with the loss, surrendering 11 hits and five runs.

“It was a hard-fought win, for sure,” Marty Snow said. “Fortunately for us, we hit (Bedard) well.”

Saranac 7, Saranac Lake 0

SARANAC — Kourtnie Campbell went the distance, tossing 14 strikeouts in a shutout performance for the Chiefs.

Saranac scored six of its seven runs through the first three innings.

“We got some hits early and ran the bases fairly well,” Chiefs coach Sam Campbell said. “I was very happy with Kournie’s performance on the mound. I thought she located the ball well. She was a little off (Monday), but was able to bounce back.”

Ashley Terry slapped three hits, including a double, while sophomore teammate Summer Gillespie added two hits, including a double.

Saranac travels to Ticonderoga today for its third game in as many days.

“At this level, it’s a tough thing to do, especially with the bus ride,” Campbell said. “I’m hoping we’ll be ready.”

The Red Storm registered four hits, but no player accounted for multiple hits in the contest.

Brittany Tschirhart was tagged with the loss.

Westport 22, Wells 8

WELLS — Ellie Schwoebel went 5-for-6 with a single and a grand slam on her 16th birthday as the Eagles pulled away for a 14-run win.

Brendee Russell went 3-for-5 at the plate and was also credited with the win on the mound.

Megan Wilson paced the Indians with their lone extra-base hit, a triple.
